01-07-21 – Traci’s Coaching Call
Wow, Heidi, oh my gosh, I’m so excited. We have a happy New Year Full House today, whether it’s morning or afternoon, wherever you are.
Unknown Speaker 1:22
And then people just keep on
Unknown Speaker 1:25
Unknown Speaker 1:26
Okay. See, I think we have everybody admitted, but we’ll keep adding as they come. How is everybody that’s just for showing up today. That’s our win to start out with, because I don’t know about you. But the first week back after the holidays, I think we all just need to give ourselves a round of applause for just showing up today. So here you are. Yay. And yes, yes. Yay, yay, yay. And I just want to thank everybody for doing that, as well as we have so many new faces today. So thank you for starting the new year off with us. I think I’m going to have to, because of this amazing group, I’m gonna have to bring in an assistant just to manage our attendees, which is a great problem to have. But we’ll work on that for next week. So I’m Welcome to the very first small group coaching call while there are groups not as small anymore, um, and welcome. And I said, we do have a lot of new faces. So I’m gonna, first of all, I’m just going to introduce the format, if you will, of the call for our new people. And one of the things that we’d love to do is when if this is the first time that you’ve joined the call, or the first time that you’ve felt like sharing, joining the call, we’d love everyone to just do a quick, Hey, my name is and the name of your podcast. And if you can think of anything fun and exciting to share with us about yourself. Anything’s fair game. And with that, we usually do start with introductions. And then we roll into asking people to share any victories or wins or celebrations that they have experienced. And it doesn’t matter how big or small and my personal preference is the small wins, because I think we, as women, especially we do celebrate our small wins enough, and it’s the small wins that get us to the big wins. So never be afraid to share a small win. And then, based on how that conversation goes, we roll into tips and tactical suggestions and ideas. And we have a couple of questions that were asked in advance. So I’ll be reviewing this as well. But without further ado, it’s five after so let’s jump right in who would who is new on the day that would like to introduce themselves, and the name of their podcast and something kind of fun about themselves. And if everyone else could be on mute, that would be fantastic. Because sometimes the background noise can be a little disruptive. So right now it feels great, but just in case. Okay, who would like to say hello?
Unknown Speaker 4:19
Why can’t I do this?
Unknown Speaker 4:24
Gail, would you like to go first? Can you hear me?
Unknown Speaker 4:27
I can? Yes. Okay. Hi. I’m
Unknown Speaker 4:30
Gil Sugarman. And my podcast is called growing
Unknown Speaker 4:32
older with that style.
Unknown Speaker 4:34
And apparently we have something interesting. Well, I’m probably one of the older podcasters around.
Unknown Speaker 4:41
And it’s been fun. It’s
Unknown Speaker 4:42
been a lot of fun. And looking forward to 2021
Unknown Speaker 4:47
I’ve never been to this pod hive or whatever it is, but here I am. So thanks for having it.
Unknown Speaker 4:53
Oh, you’re so welcome. And you know what that actually between a fantastic suggestion I got through gender a direct message and through you saying that gal maybe I do need to back up with so many wonderful new faces on the call and say tell you a little bit of very very quickly something about me if you haven’t met me or don’t know me and so yes I am the creator of plaid have My name is Tracey to forge and the creator pod have been caught pod have has expanded out in 2022 collaborate with the fabulous group of She Podcasts as well as Latina podcasters. So this weekly call is the most amazing combination of people coming to us through pod have through She Podcasts and through Latina podcaster. So you not only get to be connected through the group that you’re one on one associated with but the other two groups as well, which is phenomenal. And and secondly, I’m also the founder of produce your podcast and just in case you’ve never heard of it, it’s producing podcasts as a full service turnkey marketing and production production agency for podcasters. I do not pitch in any way shape or form in this group. But as an introduction, I’ll just let you know that that is my day job. And you can find out more about us at produce your podcast.com and but this is this coaching call is all about you and you showing up and and us being here to support each other and me being able to offer expertise when needed. And then third of all, something interesting about me um, okay, so I was born literally born without my two front teeth. So my whole life All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth was not funny to me. But as I grew up my parents gratefully, my dad’s best friend from elementary school was an orthodontist. So everything got remedied. So that is my interesting thing. I do now have front teeth. Otherwise, it would have been an interesting life up to this point. So that’s something interesting about me. The suggestion that we had from Jin, who is one of our we’ll say, veteran of pata have a call attendees is that since we do have so many new faces, why don’t we take an opportunity for everybody to do a quick introduction and name their podcast and you can choose whether or not you want to say something interesting about yourself. And I before I say I can do this, let me just double check really quickly. I can stay Yes, Yes, I can. I can stay over a little bit today. So if if you have that in your schedule, and you want to stay a few extra minutes today in case we go over I’m certainly willing to do that. So who would like to go next?
Unknown Speaker 7:51
I will. Okay, hi.
Unknown Speaker 7:55
Unknown Speaker 7:56
Yeah, yeah, baby.
Unknown Speaker 8:01
Girl down Vassar.
Unknown Speaker 8:02
I actually do two podcasts for various businesses that are in Florida and Delaware. One is called the Moore’s champions for children podcast, which is for the associates of Moore’s children’s health. And I also do one for a local Catholic parish called weekly homies with Father marks this Lego and coming soon, which has been coming soon for three years now is the not dead podcast are not dead yet podcast, which is again about aging gracefully people who are doing great things in their older years and so interesting thing about myself since Tracy brought up her two missing teeth. I also had was born without missing a molar over here, which was thankfully remedied through orthodontia. So
Unknown Speaker 8:47
Unknown Speaker 8:49
Yeah, my tag on to that would be and also all of my wisdom teeth. So I don’t know if that’s a bad thing. Maybe that means I kept all my wisdom up here. And they never came down through my teeth. But yeah, some some weird genetic mishap on that. But yeah, so thanks, thanks for being a fellow missing tooth person, but we certainly don’t have to set a time that way for sure. And also, I forgot to mention the most important thing, which is what brought me to the party is that my podcast is called journey to their exploring the intersection between personal and business growth. So I’m in Helen Charlotte, and welcome in Charlotte, just to give you a heads up, everybody’s introducing themselves today since we have a brand new crowd and it’s a brand new year. So who would like to go next?
Unknown Speaker 9:33
So Judas Weigel, I’m in Los Angeles grew up in Pittsburgh. My podcast is currently called constructive uncoupling a podcast devoted to amicable divorces. It will soon be called amicable divorce expert. And I used to work for the Columbia medical brothers circus. So we’re bringing that element into the podcast by Tracy defaul large. Well, mentoring is helping me get my shit together. On my podcast. It’s over a year old. It’s almost two years old.
Unknown Speaker 10:14
And I’ll use this as a I think so. Yeah, I think so
Unknown Speaker 10:17
in March of 2019. That’s right. Time flies. Yeah. So that’s me.
Unknown Speaker 10:22
And I will use this as an example for how important your brand is for your podcast in that prior to this call today. I had a client call that overlapped into a call with Judith. And they had met Judith on this group on this call before. And they were like, oh, Judith, may recognize her. And then the client of her name’s Joey. And she was like, Okay, wait, don’t tell me. Your podcast is something something uncoupling. And then Judith and I both just went, yep, the new brand is gonna be better because they remember the amicable divorce. So that was just a really good success story as to making everything memorable so that people can search and find you. So it was like to get next. Have Jen? And then Elizabeth and then Brenda, how about that?
Unknown Speaker 11:20
Hey, guys, Jen traffic. My podcast is salad with a side of fries. So wellness and weight loss. But for real life, kind of the eating cottage cheese philosophy started in August of 2019. And alter victory so ended the year surpassing 35,000 downloads. So that was exciting.
Unknown Speaker 11:47
Unknown Speaker 11:47
Unknown Speaker 11:48
we’re well on our way, booking interviews into I think today, I just scheduled the last interview for April. So working our way through the year.
Unknown Speaker 11:58
Congratulations. And you’re also welcome to share your win as well as if you wait while you’re introducing yourselves. Because that’s a great win. Thanks, Jim. Okay, wait, fun fact, by
Unknown Speaker 12:08
the way, sorry. I also do not have wisdom teeth, like they just never showed up.
Unknown Speaker 12:15
Unknown Speaker 12:16
they like don’t even show up in X ray. So I always joke that I’m not sure if it’s like, evolutionarily I’m
Unknown Speaker 12:23
more evolved or
Unknown Speaker 12:24
less evolved, right? Because they take those teeth out. So who knows? But
Unknown Speaker 12:28
well, I’m going with more evolved since since we share that same trait. And how bizarre is that? Okay, Elizabeth Bailey, we’d
Unknown Speaker 12:36
love to meet you. Hi, my name is Liz showing up as Elizabeth but you can call me either one. Depending on how much you want to be my mother. My best friend and I just kept she’s working today. We started a podcast in April, I mean, August of 2020 called the pretty truth. And we are all about we’re inclusive, as far as women, men and trans, you know, guests and audience, but I feel like right now we’re really devoted to just empowerment, self love. spiritual growth, with a giant side of that and crosswords. And
Unknown Speaker 13:16
Unknown Speaker 13:20
I’m pretty booked since we started and we’re booked all through January. We have what do we have 1300 downloads so far, which is cool, because we’re new. We’re a little baby podcast, we’ve reached out to big names. And we’re hearing back from some of them. Some of them are saying to circle back but it’s been really fun. And I also only have two of my four wisdom teeth.
Unknown Speaker 13:45
You just never know that you open up and so for a couple of people, I’m only half evolved for a couple of women who just joined us since this fundamentally we are about community we’re taking opportunity for everyone to introduce themselves and tell us the name of their show or their the name of their show that’s about to be and a little bit something interesting them about themselves or a win. So and or a win. So Brenda, I think you had your hand up. Would you like to get it next?
Unknown Speaker 14:19
Unknown Speaker 14:20
I’m Brenda Zane. My podcast is called hope stream. And it is for parents of either adolescents or young adults who are in addiction, either alcohol or drugs. I almost lost my oldest son to multiple fentanyl overdoses. And obviously with the opioid crisis, it’s something that affects everybody. So I just have one season 42 episodes and launched Season Two today. So that’s my win. But I only have 3200 downloads and I think my name might be part of the problem because my name doesn’t say anything about drugs or addiction or parenting or anything like that. So that’s part of the reason I’m here is to learn how I kind of get better exposure.
Unknown Speaker 15:08
But I can give you a super quick tip right now. And that is that. So in Apple podcasts specifically, you’re only searchable by the name of your show, and by your name. So if you’ll go in and edit your show settings on Apple podcast specifically, but and you can do it in your platform as well to do hope stream, and then add a tagline that says something that includes the word recovery and or addiction. So even if it’s something you don’t want to use the characters to necessarily say a podcast about recovery and addiction, but something that will put those two like so hope stream semi colon recovery and addiction, you know, finding hope through recovery, or something like that. Okay, and that will accelerate your visibility when someone searches those two keywords. So that will help cool. Yeah, no, it’s
Unknown Speaker 16:06
helpful because I have to include parenting and kids and addiction. So it’s a lot of words. So just wrapping with
Unknown Speaker 16:14
all the words, what you don’t want to do with that, though, is make it like a lot of commas. So maybe it’s supporting parents of supporting parents with with addiction issues, or Well, I mean, then that would regard parents but just kind of brainstorm it, you know, just to make sure you use it as a in line. Okay, thank
Unknown Speaker 16:41
Unknown Speaker 16:42
Sure. Um, who would like to go next? Amy Arnett Would you like to get next?
Unknown Speaker 16:53
I’ll go after Amy.
Unknown Speaker 16:55
Unknown Speaker 16:56
I’m Amy Arno, and
Unknown Speaker 16:57
I’m in Atlanta, Georgia. And I have been in the marketing and media space, specifically print media for many, many, many years, launched a local community newspaper here in the land market, and had been looking to get into the podcast business was introduced to Tracy. So we have formed a collaborative a collaboration. I’m joining her team, her producer podcast team to bring in new new business and new podcast ideas. So I’m very excited about it. I’ve had two wins. In the last month, I’ve got two we’ve got two meetings to kick off two new podcasts starting on Monday. So I’m very excited about that. And I will tell you all I have learned so much by sitting in on these podcasts, the pile hive meetings, because I’ve learned a lot from all of you listening. Um, a little bit about me, I’m a lefty. And I’m a parent of now two legal not one, but two legal children, my son turned 21 on Tuesday, and let me just say it’s a huge relief, to not have to worry about a child with a fake ID anymore. So anybody who’s had to deal with that, that’s a big relief. But I have a podcast idea that is about lefties that I’m sort of toying around with so I’m a little bit more comfortable, a little more ready. I’ll be sharing that with all of you. You can help me brainstorm.
Unknown Speaker 18:09
I love it.
Unknown Speaker 18:11
I love Happy New Year everybody off to a good
Unknown Speaker 18:13
start. Okay, this
Unknown Speaker 18:14
is a zoom feature I’m not familiar with but it has a holding hand so I’m going to hit invite, and I don’t know what that means. So I’m not doing that. I thought about who’s has their hand up to share. Let’s just do it that way. Let’s go analog.
Unknown Speaker 18:28
Unknown Speaker 18:32
everyone. So I’m Bobby rebel. I am the host of two podcasts although we just had a sabbatical from one when it’s called money with friends It’s been six days a week for two years and we needed a break because when my partner I’d be focused on our primary podcast my primary podcast is financial grown up and and also I am writing a book that is on that theme is an Amy be perfect to talk to and it’s called launching financial grownups and it’s going to be about how to basically get your grown up kids your you know young adult children to be financially stable and then therefore give you the financial freedom that you want in your later years so also good for the struggle podcast podcast people as well but basically it gives you financial freedom if you set up your children properly and so the book is really about that so I’m on deadline with that so we dropped down to only one podcast and I have all my feet
Unknown Speaker 19:33
that’s awesome most dear that we just got some heads on at this call with us right I can say that because I am one well thank you and welcome and kissy you and also if you want to type into the chat if you’re ready to share that seems to be working well as I’m so kissy yes Welcome.
Unknown Speaker 19:50
Hi everyone. My
Unknown Speaker 19:51
name is Kizzy Domingo, sorry, I got like clips in my hair. This is my first time joining one of these calls and I started a podcast called adult fluent. And I was like, wow, you have 2000 downloads. I was like, I have like a couple 100. And I was like, Oh, that’s a lot. So I’m point is the adult fluent podcast, the intent is to teach like different life skills to young people. And so I batched episode, so I have 30 already done, I released one a week. So I have, you know, a good six months basically, of content, and I just need a lot of help with how to put it out there and what to do. And that’s why I joined this actually one of my guests. Bruce Bru, who is scooter, the man behind the sleep with me podcast on if anybody listens to that or not, but he actually recommended you all. And he said he really likes to support female podcasters. And he was like you really should join. And I was like, Oh, wow. And so that’s where I am. I’m definitely a noob and welcome any and all kinds of advice. And I thank you all for allowing me to introduce myself.
Unknown Speaker 21:02
Oh, you’re so welcome. And so happy to have you here. And, and yes, we will be able to support you with both sharing ideas amongst each other. And we rely on each other. Some people have more experience in some platforms than other platforms, marketing and specific niches were really great collaboration to really help lift everybody up. Fair enough. So again, so glad we have so many new faces today. And I’m just going to go in the order of the chat now because that feels less stressful for me personally. So let’s go Melanie, hey, and welcome in. You’re up next, Melanie Weller. Unless you’re still eating and then you don’t have to. You’re zooming you might want to turn your camera back off, actually, because your zoom is a little wonky.
Unknown Speaker 21:57
wonky. Yeah, no, I know, I don’t have a great connection here. My name is Melanie Waller,
Unknown Speaker 22:02
Unknown Speaker 22:03
Unknown Speaker 22:04
I just launched only one episode out, it’s only on Spotify. That’s just where all like I had to get it out. And that’s where my bandwidth is. It’s called embody your star. And I am my win this week. I’ll say I’m a physical therapist in conventional terms I do a lot of I do best when I show my with my clients. I’m very much the magician. And so I work with people online. I’m I guess, nerve expert. And so that’s where I ground my work, and but really looking at the vagus nerve as the bridge between our stories and our bodies. And the and my win this week was having an amazing session with Tracy, who’s helping me get lots of authority on building my empire. Well,
Unknown Speaker 22:56
thank you for that. Honestly, I do. I’m so grateful for the shout out. Thank you but but the win the win really is for Melanie is that she made a decision to show up to take things to the next level. So that’s really the win. I just, I’m the conduit. So congratulations for your willingness and I love I love what you’re doing.
Unknown Speaker 23:20
Unknown Speaker 23:21
Okay, how about let’s see, I’m gonna go in order here. Um, Sarah. Sarah, is it like a leaking? It’s leaking.
Unknown Speaker 23:35
Hello, and welcome. Hi. Well, hi, everyone. This is my first time joining. So I’m really excited.
Unknown Speaker 23:40
So I host
Unknown Speaker 23:42
and the goes to podcasts. And then I host my own. So I am primarily the host of beyond the dollar. So it’s a lifestyle finance podcast. So it looks through life events through the lens of money. I’m the CO or no, I am the host of two podcasts while I’m getting my myself mixed up.
Unknown Speaker 23:58
Unknown Speaker 23:59
I’m also the host of the plutus Awards podcast, let’s I interview people from the personal finance community. And then I’m also the co host of a branded podcast from buzzsprout. So that was that was actually counted as a wind from last year. Really cool to find out that they live about the office is actually about 20 minutes from where I live. So met up with the marketing guy and then ended up being one of the CO hosts. So that’s that’s my win. And
Unknown Speaker 24:27
that’s a great win and we’re happy to have you thank you so much. Okay, Leah, you’re up. You’re up next.
Unknown Speaker 24:36
Unknown Speaker 24:37
So I am Leah wolf. And we are new to podcasting. We’re launching a podcast 2021 TBA as to whether that’s this month or next month oxytocin podcast It is our borrowing from kind of old school magazine. So we’re calling it a magazine style podcast. So features and interviews About advice column kind of a mishmash of things around parenting, and around pregnancy and birth. And I have a business partner that I’m working with. I’m super small when I am back at my office most days of the week and it is effing amazing trying to work from home with a three year old underfoot has just been I am real happy to sit in my office. And yeah, it’s also fun to hear intros, I’ve been on the calls for a few months and hearing intro is a new is really fun, because now that I know more folks hearing y’all kind of do your pitches is kind of delightful. So thank you, everybody, Happy 2021
Unknown Speaker 25:44
Well, thank you, Jen, for the idea for us to all introduce banded What a great way to start out the year and live so glad to see you back and back in your office. I don’t think that’s such a small win considering 2020 You sound congratulations. Um, okay, Charlotte, Hadley, you are up.
Unknown Speaker 26:02
Unknown Speaker 26:04
Unknown Speaker 26:05
I host two podcasts. I’m an epidemiologist and have a doctorate in public health. So I first a cast is it’s the primary I want to start in 2017 is a podcast that is more of a mentoring platform, and it’s targeting grad students and professionals in public health, to kind of challenge them to think more creatively about how they are approaching their career, or transitioning into their career, a lot of really intelligent people in public health. But we’re all very scientific, very analytical, and we most of us don’t think outside the box. So this has been a really fun podcast, a very receptive, and it’s grown a lot. So the second podcast that I have is more of my applied public health, I’m very passionate about more of my research areas is type two diabetes. I’m personally a type two diabetic. So the second podcast is really it’s called for my health today, and it’s about my journey, dealing with diabetes. I talk about things like physical activity, and healthy lifestyle changes, but through more of a perspective of the real person that’s dealing with it not just the scientific approach, teaching and you know, kind of preaching to people. So I have fun with that. My big when I sound very nasal, which is because I struggled with a sinus infection and a cold as I rang in the new year. But I just ran with it, and I recorded this way, and it is what it is. But my big win is that this year, I did a lot of work at the end of last year with with branding, I do very well with the public health podcasts. It’s the first one its primary, but not as much with for my health today. So I did a lot of rebranding took away a lot of things and made sure I was really clear on the message I wanted to send because the podcast brings clients to me for coaching and consulting. So I felt like that was a big when I kicked off the new year with both of the podcasts released their first episodes with new intro music, new messaging that really kind of resonates with my style and my brand and my audience is eating it up. So
Unknown Speaker 28:18
that is so awesome. So thank you for introducing these two fabulous podcasts but also incorporating that when and we’re glad you push through and recorded even though you’re nazli. So I’m going to integrate a little tip here. And as a result of that, so if you do your if you record your own intro for every podcast, now, you do not have to do this. But this is just a great idea to bring up this tip and suggestion. One of the things that we recommend is that instead of having a pre recorded intro to your podcast, that when you are recording your podcast for each episode, that you just do that intro as part of the recording every time for the exact reason that Charlotte just shared because a pre recorded intro when you’re at your best sounding great. And then going into your actual episode where your nazli can really be you know, it’s a small and subtle thing, but it’s just an audio quality thing that you might want to take into consideration. It is not the easiest way because you would be re recording it every time you record an episode. But in those events that you have that amazingly sound or scratchy voice, there’s not as much differentiation. Now the easy and simple solution to that is to say, Hey, I have a cold today. So you don’t always have to do the one that’s more complicated, but it is a suggestion. If you’re one want to take that into consideration. So that is a just a little tip for you. And as we go Okay, our next person coming up is Sarah Davis. Can’t wait to meet you. Sierra?
Unknown Speaker 30:04
Going once, going twice.
Unknown Speaker 30:07
Okay. Are you there?
Unknown Speaker 30:12
Unknown Speaker 30:16
I was I was fiddling with this,
Unknown Speaker 30:18
the settings over here. I host a podcast called breathing wind. And it’s been launched last year it is storytelling about folks who lost parents in their 20s and 30s or younger. And it’s been it’s been wonderful. It’s been a wonderful experience for me, personally, and I guess professionally as well. And my big win is that I asked folks from the first season to host miniseries next season, and the first person has already scheduled their interview. And we’re, we’re moving through. So I’ve become, I guess, somewhat of a producer in the process. And I’m curious to hear more about that and hear, hear from folks who are in that in that space, professionally, to
Unknown Speaker 31:12
love it. Well, you’re in the right place, and you will be able to get lots of tips and suggestions and insights of like minded women, although it’s not a women’s only group, but we do have a tendency to be predominantly estrogen oriented. And which was kind of funny on the call when we did have James Tom, as we’re all very excited on our holiday call. So um, thank you and welcome. And next in the queue is Julie Julie. And I’m not gonna try to isn’t revelon very close. Thank you. It’s revelon. Yes. Yay. Well, welcome. Tell me about you and your podcast. Well, thank you. I’m excited to be here as Stacey Sims, podcast, host of diabetes connection referred me to your group. So I’m excited to be here. My name is Julie revelon. And I am a health journalist, content marketing writer in the b2b healthcare space, and I’m launching a new podcast in early
Unknown Speaker 32:15
end of January, early February called food issues. And so I’ll be uncovering the real challenges around feeding kids and serving up practical ways to set them up for a healthier future. And so I guess my big wins, if you want to call them are, I’ve got some interviews already recorded. I’m working with a consultant to launch and conceptualize the podcast and I’m also in talks with a potential sponsor.
Unknown Speaker 32:41
Oh my gosh, that’s like three wins. We’ll let you have all one. Amazing Well, welcome. And we can’t wait to hear more as things progressed, and you’ve got a lot of them potential collaborators in this group to four guests and otherwise, so yeah, we’re just seeing how that percolates for you. Thank you. Yes. Okay. Adria is it Adria or Audra,
Unknown Speaker 33:05
Unknown Speaker 33:06
It is Adria. Thank
Unknown Speaker 33:08
you. I’m glad to be here. My podcast is feed me and tell me I’m pretty sorry. Feed me and tell me I’m pretty is our podcast, my partner and I started it just in May last year. so new to the whole, all the things want to learn all the things podcasting. And really looking now that we’ve started the podcast, want to look at how we can grow it and increase our downloads and reach more people. So I’m here to learn those things. And the podcast feed me and tell me, I’m pretty is all about health and fitness for women. And we do do it from a real perspective, complete honesty, lots of F bombs, and transparency when it comes to sharing our own victories and setbacks. So that’s what we do
Unknown Speaker 33:56
love it. Well, again, you guys are going to all of our fitness and nutrition and health minded like minded podcasts are going to have a really wonderful time growing and supporting each other. I love to see that happen. Right And speaking of great supportive and collaborative mindset, hello, Chris. And please introduce
Unknown Speaker 34:17
Unknown Speaker 34:21
up you’re muted. You’re muted, you’re muted.
Unknown Speaker 34:26
I’m excited to be on two calls in a row even if they were three weeks apart.
Unknown Speaker 34:31
So Jen laughed.
Unknown Speaker 34:35
My name is Chris. I have a podcast called grounding journey. It’s the deeper spiritual conversations we’ve all been seeking. Yvonne Anderson or Hernandez, sorry, is on the call. And she’s going to be my guest, the first episode and February. So we recorded in November. And so that’s just kind of a collaboration for the group of how you meet everybody and you find people who instead of just like blind posts, And other groups to find a new guest. It’s fun to collaborate with everybody in here. And so one of my wins is I finished my yoga teacher certification in December. And because that’s done now, my dedication to myself is that instead of I was releasing a main episode on Tuesdays, and then a bonus episode The next week, so I was really only releasing two episodes a month with guests. And next week will be my first couple of episodes. So I’m going to be releasing two solid segments a month. So that’s my exciting like, when scary jump off the cliff thing.
Unknown Speaker 35:38
Ah, well, I
Unknown Speaker 35:39
have a win for you that you don’t even know about. And so I shared at the beginning that my podcast is called journey to there. And over a couple not even two weeks ago, I was looking for my my own Spotify link. So when I did a search in Spotify for my own podcast, grounding journey came up, first
Unknown Speaker 36:02
of all, that’s super exciting. Thanks for sharing that with me.
Unknown Speaker 36:06
And let me also just say that there are a lot of podcasts and Spotify with the word journey in them. So that is a true big win. And I was kind of laughing to myself that my head wasn’t popping up is like I would like it. I was so excited to know the person who’s what, who was. Thanks.
Unknown Speaker 36:24
That makes me happy. I’m enjoying it. It’s something I got into by accident and have really turned out to love what I’m doing. So it’s fun to be here.
Unknown Speaker 36:33
Yeah, well, you can find her on Spotify.
Unknown Speaker 36:37
Search grounded journey or just journey she’ll
Unknown Speaker 36:40
Unknown Speaker 36:42
Okay, Diana, leathers.
Unknown Speaker 36:46
Hi there. I’m Diana leathers. And my podcast is screens in focus. And it began because of my love of TV and film.
Unknown Speaker 36:59
Unknown Speaker 37:02
a co host that was a co worker of mine, because we would just talk about TV shows and movies all the time. And we thought, Oh, why don’t we start a podcast that we did. And it was just for fun. We just, you know, just wanted to talk about our favorite shows. And and so we did that. After a little while she had to step away. Because she had other things going on in her life. And I found another friend of mine who also loved TV and film as much as I did. So we began together. And again, it’s just something we just decided to do. And we’re doing and we don’t do some very small following. And so I probably earlier this year, just wanted to learn more about how to produce this podcast, because, you know, like I said, it was just a hobby, we were just doing it, but I wanted to grow our listeners. And so I’ve been working on that. And it’s just been steadily very, you know, a minimal amount has been growing. But I’m just trying to figure out how to reach more people how to reach the right people. And I would say even though I still feel like a newbie, even though we’ve been doing this for a little while, but in December, we did reach our 100th episode. So that was a big win for us. Um, but yeah, I just need to learn how to market and how to grow this. And so that’s what I’m here for.
Unknown Speaker 38:34
Well, you are exactly, again, exactly in the right place. And I’ll just share on the piggyback of that, that one of the main motivations that I had last January when I launched this pod launch the podcast community was because I felt like there are a lot of resources out there for people who wanted to start a podcast, but there weren’t a lot of resources out there for people who wanted to sustain and grow and really see a long, you know, keep podcasting to avoid pod pain. So really our whole focus and what we do is focused on that taking it to the next level and of course, always helping women we have several people just on the call today that have watched their podcast through we’ve been watching you I’m Chris Greer is one of them, you know, watching you as you came to the call with the concept and then launching it and now taking that to the next level. So, you know, really focusing on growth and monetization in ways that we can support each other but also grow our shows outside of here is a big priority. So I want to reiterate again, how excited I am to have so many people joining us. And okay, Dan. Dan, are you on mute?
Unknown Speaker 39:46
Unknown Speaker 39:47
Oh, there you are.
Unknown Speaker 39:47
Can you hear me now? Hi. I’m really glad to be here. Thanks for having me. My podcast is called alopecia life and we talk about autoimmune hair loss and it. It’s not a medical podcast necessarily we talk about emotion because of what is involved with hair loss. All of the emotion I talked to parents, and the most recent episode I just released is really exciting. The family featured on humans of New York and it got over 253,000 likes and shares. And it’s been really exciting because awareness is really huge with alopecia areata. So, just really excited to continue that. And I think that’s my win for the year too. I’ll go with that.
Unknown Speaker 40:36
Well, congratulations, and welcome. And I’ve been admiring that piece of art behind you this whole time. It’s so
Unknown Speaker 40:44
thank you. That’s a friend of mine. She did that. I can I can hook you up if
Unknown Speaker 40:51
I love it.
Unknown Speaker 40:53
Okay, let’s see, I’m reading through the chat to make sure that I’m okay. Stacy will Baron, I am on a walk. But I am the host of the community cats podcast, I have almost 400 episodes, it’s all about how to turn your passion for cats into action. Oh, that’s fascinating. I love that. Lots of lots of people in the chat collaborating with each other and swapping emails, which is satisfying. I’m just wanting to make sure that I haven’t missed anyone that wants to introduce I’m Lauren factor.
Unknown Speaker 41:34
Hello, everyone, this is my first time on the call. So I’m happy to be here. My co host and I host a therapeutic wellness podcast, open name in the chat. It’s a little bit hard to spell it out. But we started July of 2020. And I think our biggest win is teaching ourselves how to do this because we literally taught ourselves from scratch, how to edit how to network, how to, you know, in groups and and we’re still constantly learning how to build our podcast and a lot of our episodes, they all tie back to mental health. So we talk about, you know, we have guests on that are spiritual based. We’re really into like astrology and Tarot and things like that, but also just about mental health and wellness. So all of our guests tie back to that. So we’re just learning how to grow and sustain, which is why I attended the call today.
Unknown Speaker 42:34
Oh, well, that is so fun. And thank you for joining. Thank you for showing up. And we have a message Lauren, same here my beer. This is from Elizabeth Bailey. Lauren, same here, my BFF. And I’ve done the same and it sounds like your content is a lot like ours. Great.
Unknown Speaker 42:52
Unknown Speaker 42:53
And then I did have a question from Katherine about the posting, I think you might be doing a direct message. I think there’s a setting as to whether or not you can do direct message or post all. So just check your setting. And then you should be able to post all but if not, if there’s something you want me to read to the group, feel free to send it to me and I can do that. Um, okay, well, I’m just going to do one more a shout out to see if anyone else wants to introduce themselves. Victoria, Victoria Lee Victoria Lee. Oh, I’m going to let you say
Unknown Speaker 43:31
well, what are you trying to read?
Unknown Speaker 43:32
Your name? Victoria.
Unknown Speaker 43:34
Unknown Speaker 43:35
Oh, Victoria. Okay, my
Unknown Speaker 43:39
I don’t have my glasses on top. of it.
Unknown Speaker 43:44
It was purpose a woman podcast. I just changed that for today’s purposes. Hi, my name is Victoria. And it’s first time meeting and this meeting. I really love it. My podcast called purposeful woman. And we’ll lunching and next Monday, hopefully, Apple will approve and all this stuff We’ll get going. It’s a daily podcast, we have already pre recorded over three months. So I feel pretty solid on that. And I also post the monthly summit. So I repurpose some of those interviews. And I’ve been curious on how, what platform everybody’s using it and how to monetize that.
Unknown Speaker 44:19
Okay, so when you were saying you’ll be curious about what platform Are you talking about what platform for read, like in terms of repurposing, or can you be more specific because we know we can help you with the answer to that?
Unknown Speaker 44:31
Yes, I chose pod bean but I was curious if there is other better platforms to monetize it in terms of creating exclusive podcasts. I heard I’ve started to read something about that. You can do some extra episodes for just extra money and like to destination or how else you’re monetizing your podcast.
Unknown Speaker 44:54
Okay, so I’m going to speak to that first but then I’m certainly open it up to anybody else who wants to give feedback. I think what I’m hearing you say is that so you have you host your podcast to the public on pod bean. But is there a way to have exclusive episodes perhaps that, that if people sponsor your podcast or they are involved in some level of membership that they get private access to the episodes. Okay, so there are there are lots of new opportunities popping up with this service, but probably the two primary platforms right now. And you wouldn’t have to migrate off of pod bean because they operate separately, and one is Patreon. And we have several people on the call today that they use Patreon successfully, you can set that up, and then have episodes and people who they pay your monthly support amount can get access to content to private episodes and things like that. The other platform is Glo g l o w. FM, and it was created more specifically for podcasters. Both of those work really well. They have advantages and disadvantages. Depending on where where you came to this call from whether it was She Podcasts or pod half or Latina podcasters. There are some webinars that are available to you in the resource section, there’s a webinar focused solely on Patreon. And there’s another webinar focused solely on glow FM that compares both and so if you want to remember I’m sorry.
Unknown Speaker 46:35
She Podcasts I can produce
Unknown Speaker 46:38
email with you.
Unknown Speaker 46:39
Yes. So what so she went on, if you log into the Super Squad, you can get the webinars and you can review those and that will help you get some more clarity around that. But would anybody else like to share any experience they have with creativity? No. Paid?
Unknown Speaker 46:55
How serious was a Patreon because pod beam has a Patreon. It’s not Patreon, but as a Patreon, which is theirs their own program. Does anyone have experience with this one? No.
Unknown Speaker 47:12
Um, but you know, if you want to check it out and come back next week and let him know more about it. We’d love that. Yeah. Okay, um, we had a couple of people just pop in. And I don’t want to put you on the spot. But one of the things that we’ve done today, since it’s a brand new year and a brand and lots of brand new faces is we’ve asked everyone to introduce themselves and the name of their podcast and share something about themselves. So when either of Ashley r Kim, would you like to go?
Unknown Speaker 47:45
can have can hate hammer? hammer? Yep. Hammer.
Unknown Speaker 47:49
Unknown Speaker 47:49
Hi, my name is Kim hammer. The name of my podcast is 100 acts of love. It’s out of support friends and family members who are going through cancer. I also focus on an HR professionals also focus on supporting HR professionals dealing with employees and helping managers also manage employees who are in the workplace with cancer.
Unknown Speaker 48:14
Wonderful, Sara, do you have something that you would even the smallest celebration or the biggest celebration, or just something fun about yourself or both?
Unknown Speaker 48:25
Unknown Speaker 48:27
small celebration sounds really funny. But I started this worry journal in the morning. So I get up, you know, like, normally My head’s kind of in this, like, Oh, my God, I’m gonna do space, like writing out everything that I’m worrying about. And it’s just amazing because it like, all of a sudden those worries go away. And I’m not carrying them around with me all day long. I think the something fun is I consider myself a country girl who happens to live in the city, I live in LA. So but I love like any chance I get out to go for a hike or stay like if I have my choice of Airbnb, I’m going to be in the woods in the middle of nowhere. So that doesn’t always fit, like the way I look or like you know anything about me, but that’s very much truly who I am. And I guess really quickly, my story behind launching this whole thing was, my husband had cancer twice, and then passed away at the age of 44. And one of the things I realized what he had cancer is so many people wanted to help and didn’t know what to do or what to say. And you know, and then the people who did help and stepped up were absolutely amazing. So you know that what they did the small little things that they did really, really mattered. And I just want to be able to pass that on to people and let them know how much and how important they are in the lives of their friends and their family members and their employees and co workers who are dealing with cancer. So that’s it. Thank
Unknown Speaker 49:52
Unknown Speaker 49:53
Oh, that’s so wonderful. And thank you for what you’re doing to make a difference that’s so needed and so wonderful. Thank you And actually, I don’t want to put you on the spot. You can say no, but I just also wanted to give you the chance to introduce yourself as well.
Unknown Speaker 50:14
Already, you’re on mute. But if you want to take yourself off mute, you’re welcome to do that. And what, what I was going to say we have, we definitely have a few minutes left, which I think is amazing that we just got through 25 plus internet, although Wait a second, I see some familiar faces that hasn’t introduced herself yet.
Unknown Speaker 50:36
You’re not getting off that easy. No, No, you didn’t. But I wanted to give this space for all the newbies because it’s nice to be
Unknown Speaker 50:43
Unknown Speaker 50:45
And everything but um, so my name is Ivana Landis. And my podcast is called decide balance, which is a five minute bilingual, English and Spanish meditation podcast. And the idea was to, to help people not have an excuse to meditate. Meditation has been huge in my life, and has really helped me reverse the middle, I go on my body, naturally. And so it’s just been a huge win for me. And so I’m sharing this. And so a big win for me is I celebrated my one year podcast anniversary on December 26. And at the same time, I think you I did my first YouTube video, because I wanted to make that my anniversary. Actually, I wanted to make it before but of course, fear and doubt and trying to make everything perfect, kept getting in my way. And finally, December 26 was coming up and it’s like, Okay, forget it, I’m just going to do whatever it is, I’m going to tell my story, because I hadn’t really told my story on the podcast, like who was behind the mic. And so I did the meditation. And then I said, and now I’m going to share my story. So you know, whoever wants to shut it off, they don’t have to listen, but at least they heard the meditation. And that was the purpose, right? And then afterwards is me telling my story. And then I just did the same thing. I just did it on YouTube. So me saying My story is my actual video. But the meditation is just an image. And so that’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while start to get my youtube channel up and running. And finally I said, That’s it, no more excuses, I need to do this. And what a perfect opportunity, then make it my, you know, my story and my and celebrating my anniversary as this as well. So, at 13 podcasts or 13 episodes, and I’m already at over 2300 downloads. So I mean, it’s literally been for I mean, I guess it’s been about one a month or so. But I feel like it’s a huge win for me, because I’m not really like promoting promoting it that much. It’s just kind of like, intuitively I’ll post things and, you know, share. So it’s like, oh, wow, I have like 20 or 2300 downloads like
Unknown Speaker 52:55
this is cool. So I wanted to share very motivating to them, maybe in 2021 kick up that marketing a notch because you’ve been doing so many great things in 2020 to build and expand your show. So lots out there for people to really benefit from
Unknown Speaker 53:11
so yeah, and thanks really to to this group. I mean, it’s been amazing. I’ve learned so much from you, Tracy, and from all of you in the group and just the support. Really, it’s like, Okay, I’m not alone, because sometimes Yeah, we feel alone. And it’s like, does anybody understand what I’m going through? And of course, yes, this group does so. So thank you all, I really appreciate the support here.
Unknown Speaker 53:31
Yes, absolutely. And what I thought I would do for these next few minutes is I thought I would review some of the benefits that you have, in terms of things that out, you know, being a member of the different groups that you have, there are a couple things that I would love for you to mark your calendars and and certainly optimize because they’re available to you. One is I mentioned earlier that we dropped a webinar every week. And they’re typically focused on very specific like I mentioned before, there was a webinar on Patreon and then there was one on blow and they released back to back so that you could learn about those. This month, we’re going to have several webinars on focused on and around social media and using social media for to as a growth tool for your podcast. We’re also going to have an interview with a company called verbal Vu RBL. They just launched and the founder of verbal is going to, we’re going to interview them and they’re going to talk about industry trends for podcasting for 2021. So that’ll be coming out later this month. And so we will have a packed full webinar schedule that you’ll be able to access through your portal of the memberships that you belong to and then secondarily these calls. Today’s call has been fascinating and fabulous because everybody was able to introduce them. selves. In our normal format, we do have a lot more of exchange of resources and tips and an actual tactical things to take away we, we have the collaboration, we have the community, we celebrate our wins, but we also get down to business and really get a tactical with solutions. So definitely feel like that that will be worth your time because it absolutely is. It is for me, I always learn something every week. So that’s fantastic for me. And then the third thing that I want you to feel like you can take advantage of is there what’s called office hours and their one on 115 minute sessions that you can schedule with me. And they’re designed to focus solely on you. And if you have a question or an idea that you want to brainstorm, if you have a question, you just scheduled your office hours and you come to the call, we do a zoom call, we can record it if you like. And it’s just a little mini consulting session focused solely on you and your podcast. Those happen the last Wednesday of the month. So in January, let me just pull up the calendar. So I don’t tell you the wrong date. And so this, this month, office hours will be on Wednesday, the 27th. I’m going to post the link in the chat. And you can go in and you can schedule your session they are first come first serve. So you guys are getting like the first reminder of the year. And so definitely, if you are interested in scheduling an office hours, go ahead and take advantage of that. So these are really great benefits for you to have access and be able to get your specific questions answered either through the coaching calls or through the office hours. And one of the things that we will we have been talking about kicking off, but we are absolutely going to be kicking off 2021 first quarter is we’re going to do a live podcast audit of someone’s podcast, which is pretty exciting. And I’ll be putting out the details on that coming up. And what that is, is that everybody has opportunity to submit and request a podcast audit, and you fill out a pretty lengthy checklist. And then I actually go in personally and go through your social media and your shows and listen to your episodes and look at all your marketing and do a full 360 degree comprehensive audit and then we come back together. And we’ll actually do the audit live for everybody to participate in so that you can see how that works. And we’ve had a couple of people on the call here today that have actually done them individually. And they have really enjoyed the process. So I think you guys will enjoy that shouldn’t do the same Hey. Um, so we’ll be doing that in first quarter. And then the other thing that I wanted to announce is that I’m going to be hosting a webinar at the at, oh, shoot, I have the date pulled up. It’s actually I think that
Unknown Speaker 58:19
I’m not going to guess I’m just gonna pull it up. But anyway, as you can register for this webinar, it’s absolutely no charge. And it’s launch and grow your podcast. So if you already have an existing podcast, it may be still worth your time to register for it and go through the webinar with me because it’s packed full of industry trends and statistics, we talk a lot about it’s basically goes into three categories. It’s you know why podcasting is so relevant, and demographics and socio economics and everything of podcast listeners that’s informative, whether you already have a podcast or you’re just getting started. And then we talk a lot about building your audio brand, and how you want to build your audio brand successfully. If you’re using your podcasts, like as Charlotte mentioned that she’s getting coaching clients and people are using their podcasts to drive business through coaching and consulting and product lines and things like that. So you can learn about the importance of your audio brand and how that extends beyond your podcast. And then the third phase of the webinar is key considerations about launching. So even if you have already launched then you then you will definitely still benefit because there’ll be some time keepers and some tips and things in there. So we’d love to have a will love to have you registered for that. And Leah had a question we send a recording of IT folks can’t make it live and yes, absolutely. So if you want to just register for it, but you can can actually be lab on the webinar
Unknown Speaker 1:00:03
does not work in here.
Unknown Speaker 1:00:05
The links not working. Okay, somebody is not me is not on me. And I don’t know if they’re talking to us or they’re talking about the link. So let me just check it.
Unknown Speaker 1:00:19
In order for a link in the chat to be clickable, it has to have like the HTTP stuff, but if you just copy it, paste it into a browser, it should work.
Unknown Speaker 1:00:28
Okay, a while but Okay, I’ll do that. It’s just it shows up as a different link when you threw them where it was the page was built, but let’s, let’s do it that way. How about that? Okay, so it’s Wednesday, January, the 20th, at 1pm, Eastern Time, noon, central 11, Mountain 10. Pacific. And so this, this link will actually work now. Thanks, Jen, that you can see, you know, all the things that I was talking about, but industry trends, audio brand marketing strategy, and actual actionable takeaways and key considerations. So that’s available to you. It’s outside the membership because it is free to the public, but I thought you might want to know about it and mark your calendar. And yes, so thanks, everybody. I can’t believe we got through 25 introductions and housekeeping details and new events all within this hour. So that’s just goes to show that you guys are all excellent. podcasters because you know how to say things succinctly. So that’s your went to. Yes, Leah?
Unknown Speaker 1:01:37
Is there a Facebook group? I know that pod hive because I’m in She Podcasts? So there’s the Super Squad there, but is there a podcast group for this group?
Unknown Speaker 1:01:50
Unknown Speaker 1:01:50
you know, the answer is yes, there is but you so you want to look for pod have. So you want to search for pod have members only and then you just submit your request and but I will say that because of the activity of the other groups that this Facebook group is not as interactive as She Podcasts and Latina podcasters I do most of my engagement literally through these calls and through the office hours. But my my commitment to you guys is that will be better about the Facebook group this year. It’s just um, I just love the I love the in person kind of like virtual in persons engagement. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not still valuable. So that’s my that’s my resolution, if you will to activate that more. But yes, please feel free to send a request in its pod have members only and there is a Facebook group there. And and for those of you who there’s so much great exchange going on in the chat, Jen, was it you that taught us how to download the chat when you before you got off the call? Because I know someone told us how to do that before and it wasn’t me.
Unknown Speaker 1:03:09
Yes, so if you click the three little dots in the like where you would type in the chat on the right, it says three little Doc, you know, you can click that and it’s a safe chat, click Save chat.
Unknown Speaker 1:03:20
So there’s a little box as three three dots. And if you click that and hit save chat, you’ll be able to get all the links and communications and things that have been happening through through today’s call.
Unknown Speaker 1:03:35
So we want to save it in your zoom files. So just click Show in folder when it gives you that option.
Unknown Speaker 1:03:42
Okay, so you can find it save info. So click Save chat and then save and folder. And everybody thank you so much. Happy New Year. Cheers to what’s possible in 2021 because there is so much possible. And please come back next week, same time, same place and we will be here.
