So our current podcast (which was directed toward a VERY niche audience) is now dead in the water, just as we were set to start our next season and our listenership was really starting to grow. As we are an after-show discussion podcast, that was always a possibility (the TV show could have ended at any time, although that’s not the case now, but it may as well have as far as our podcast goes).
We want to continue podcasting, but now have to pivot and figure out a whole new concept… hopefully one without an expiration date. I don’t know that I am actually looking for advice, more than reassurance. Anyone taken a hard left turn, change their entire podcast, and still do well? We have a lot to discuss… not really sure where we go from here.
This is just SO 2020 🤣🤣🤣

Aw, man! That is a HUGE bummer and the person I know this happened to is Daniel J Lewis who isn’t a member here but does The Audacity to Podcast. He was also doing a podcast about the show Once, and it ended abruptly. It’s a bummer – but TV podcasts are like that! I wouldn’t discourage you from doing another one – you’re hilariously funny and I think any show you cover is worth your while, regardless of how long it lasts. It’s going to be ok! You have great ideas.

The show isn’t ending, but the creators of the show are putting out their own podcast, using nearly our exact format (except they have all the great comedians and guests we can’t get), and because they get the show in advance, they are releasing it the same day as the show (3 days before we can get ours out)
But we have spent all day on Twitter with our listeners, talking about ways to move forward. We might be able to pivot a bit and change our format and bring in a few new ideas. We are going to talk about it and see what comes up.
Not giving up on it, just needed a day to digest and figure out some changes to make sure we are offering something that makes people want to listen to them AND us, not them instead of us.

Wow, Tara! Man, oh man, that’s so challenging, and to add to that the frustration of the ‘official’ show eeeeek. I know you and your community will do well taking it to whatever it may become! Big hug!
