It does make sense. I know my tendency is to just run a mental loop on things that seem like they are important in getting ready to do the work, and procrastinate actually doing the work. And it’s easy to do when we’re working in a silo, to stay in that loop longer than we should (at least I know that’s my tendency). I crafted a mission statement a couple of years ago, but it was crafted to speak to an organization I was applying for a grant from, and I’ve always felt like it didn’t really stick the landing. I’ve spent some time revisiting that in the past week or two, and I was having a hard time figuring out if I was just looping as a procrastination technique, or if it was valuable reflection time. What I appreciate about your response is that it allows me to say “Yes, it’s valuable reflection, but now it’s time to just do the work and reflect on it again later.”
